The Truth About Medically-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medically-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a "whole-patient" approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Medications used in MAT are FDA-approved and tailored to meet each patient's needs. Learn more by attending this program on Monday, October 17.

One Pill Can Kill: Counterfeit Prescriptions in America
884 American teens died as a result of an overdose in 2021, a 249% increase over 2019. The vast majority of those overdoses can be attributed to counterfeit prescription drugs purchased by the victims, likely over social media.
To help families understand the issue and its impact on Connecticut teens, A Promise to Jordan will present “One Pill Can Kill: Counterfeit Prescriptions in America”, on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M.

Making College Work While in Recovery
To help families plan for a successful transition to college, the Simsbury nonprofit, A Promise to Jordan, will present “Making College Work While in Recovery”, on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. The presentation will take place at “The Barn” at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 124 Old Farms Road, Simsbury, and all local restrictions with regard to the coronavirus pandemic will be followed. For anyone preferring to attend virtually, the presentation will also be available via Zoom.

On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, A Promise to Jordan will host a virtual presentation by Ginger Katz, CEO and Founder of the Courage to Speak Foundation, of Norwalk, CT.
CRAFT: Community Reinforcement and Family Training
This two-hour virtual session is geared to families who have a loved one with substance use disorder or an at-risk teen, as well as for professionals in the addiction treatment field who are working informally with families and want to learn techniques for motivating substance users to seek treatment.
The goals of CRAFT are to discourage and reduce the use of substances, get people into treatment, improve their overall well-being, and help caregivers experience less stress, depression and anger. CRAFT has been proven to work with at-risk adolescents, all substance use disorders, and with individuals across diverse cultures.
